I'm looking for a gunsmith recommendation for a rebarrel project. In the St. Louis area, who does the best work? Thanks in advance.

The best guy in St. Louis and you will hear this from multiple gun stores is a guy named Otto. He is off of 270 and highway 30 east of Grants Farm. He has two of my rifles right now and he is about to get the third to thread the barrel. He is putting a stock and a barrel on my 338 Lapua and on my 308 he is putting a new barrel. His number is 314 638 3327.

I've never heard of Otto but that is good information. I have used Bill's Gunsmithing in Silex, MO to swap out a 35 Rem to 30-30 barrel on a Marlin a few years ago. He did a nice job. He appears to have equipment to fully thread a barrel but I didn't inquire further than what I needed. He came recommended by a local friend who has way more experience with gun mods than I.

Maybe I am behind the times. Did Ron shut down and retire?

Sad news about Ron Hoehn: he passed away suddenly on April 29th. His shop is closed and his widow is in the process of selling the shop and home.
Ron was a valued member of the club and on the BRRC Board of Directors for 49 years. Ron also built many superbly precise rifles, mentored numerous benchrest shooters and was an accomplished rifleman in his own right. He is sorely missed by all who knew him.
R.I.P. Ron Hoehn.
