I've been a life member since about 1980 or so, but I haven't been to the new club since around 1993, just after it first opened and wasn't finished. That is about to change. I couldn't find an overhead drawing or aerial view of the club and its current facilities, so I went to Google Satellite View. Could someone label the various ranges on the photo for me? Is the 1200 yard target area not in this aerial view? Thanks, JR

John, Welcome back if you have been gone so long. The ranges have come a long way in the eight or so years I have been a member.
The Long Range firing point is not visible on the Google Aerial view because it is in the trees on the east side of the property. The firing point is on high ground and fires down across the fields generally north west, across the creek with target points along the way at set distances. After Google updates the images on their site, the impact berms should be visible.
I will try to label the ranges on an aerial image and post it.
Hope this helps. Benjamin Voss

Given Ben's description and a little imagination you can find the shooting point and target locations. Follow the winding gravel road leading east/northeast away from the benches at the 100-300 range. There is a small bare area on the satellite view. From there use your measuring tool to the north/northwest 1100+yds. Zoom in and you can see target frames.

How do you get to the target area for the 1200 yard range?

There is a side-by-side ATV that stays on the long range for going to the target area. The road to the target area is too rugged for most vehicles and POVs are restricted from going down to the targets.
A gate restricts access to the firing point. It is located just around the right corner from the 30 Bench. Once qualified for the 1,200 range, you get a key to this gate. Shooters can drive to the firing point in their vehicles.

Does there have to be a cease-fire anywhere other than the 1200 yard range when using the ATV to put up or take down targets there?

No. The Long Range operates independent of the other ranges. It is in defilade of the other rifle ranges, same as when the farmer is on the fields. Because the fields are still actively farmed, range time needs to be scheduled through Scott to ensure the farmer is not going to be there.

Thanks for the info. The winter satellite image shows more detail, for sure.
