The St Louis BR Club held its first short range (100/200 yard)centerfire benchrest match for 2017. And thanks to the effort put in by our match director Joe Fesi and the ever present and solid as a rock El Presidente Scott Pieper it was a terrific success that ran like clockwork. We started off with a fun cash shoot Friday night followed by two days of sharing some camaraderie with a bunch of folks who believe all five bullets are supposed to go through the same hole. And despite some tricky conditions some of the guys shot some awfully small groups. And as always the lunch provided both Saturday and Sunday was only exceeded by the bacon wrapped tenderloins that were served Saturday night. Every shoot I learn something. This weekend I found that it's a bad idea to wet the bottom of the rear bag. We do that to keep it from slipping around as you run 5 quick shots down range. In this case we started out Saturday morning in sub freezing weather and when I touched off my first sighter shot the rear bag (which was sitting on an ice patch) dang near flew off the bench. Joe will have the results out in a couple days. Thanks to everyone who put in all the hard work. Bill Cook. Tha
