I'm working on another novel with shooting-related themes in it. I have a scene set in May of 1966 in which a young boy is given instruction by an Olin employee in the proper technique of shooting a match grade, scoped, bolt action .22 rimfire rifle off of sandbags.
I prefer to use real people in the historically-based fiction that I write.
Does anyone know of a person who worked at either Winchester or Olin in 1966, and was also at that time a benchrest shooter, and perhaps a member of BRRC? He needn't be an actual competitor in NBRSA matches, just someone who regularly shot accurate, scoped rifles off of sandbags, and not just a once-a-year hunter making sure his rifle was sighted in right before deer season.
Thanks!

John,
You might try asking around at the BRRC Swap Meet held the morning of the annual meeting. January 30th starting at 7:00. There are usually lots of old timers selling old guns, ammo, reloading supplies and other equipment. You might find someone who knows just the person you are looking for.
Good luck.
